About Everts Air: Everts Air is an 'Alaskan cargo airline' with a rich history, based in Fairbanks and Anchorage, AK. We are the backbone of the Alaskan supply chain, specializing in 'on-demand' and scheduled cargo and mail services to remote communities across the state. We operate a 'rugged and diverse' fleet of aircraft, including the 'DC-6', 'C-46', and 'MD-80' freighters. We are seeking a 'physically strong', 'detail-oriented', and 'safety-focused' individual to join our team as a Cargo Loadmaster. This is 'not a passenger flight attendant' role; it is a 'critical flight crew' position focused on the 'safe and efficient loading' of freight. 'No experience' as a loadmaster is required, but a 'strong background in cargo handling', logistics, or 'weight and balance' is highly valued. This is a 'physically demanding' job in a 'challenging environment'. Your New Career – The Role: As an Everts Air Loadmaster, you are a 'required crew member' responsible for the 'entire loading process' of the aircraft. You are the 'master of the cargo hold'. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all cargo is loaded, secured, and documented in accordance with 'FAA regulations' and company policies, ensuring the aircraft's 'weight and balance' is correct and safe for flight. You will fly with the aircraft on its routes across Alaska, managing the 'unloading and loading' process in remote, often 'austere' village locations. This role requires 'physical strength', 'mathematical precision', and 'unwavering attention to safety'. You must be able to work a 'variable schedule', including 'night shift', 'day shift', 'weekend shift', and 'on-call' periods, often in 'extreme weather conditions'. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: We provide 'comprehensive, paid on-the-job training' for this specialized role. 'No experience' as a loadmaster is required. Our training program, based in Anchorage (ANC) or Fairbanks (FAI), will cover: * 'Aircraft Systems:' You will learn the 'cargo configurations', restraint systems, and door operations for our unique fleet (MD-80, DC-6, etc.). * 'Weight and Balance:' You will receive 'in-depth training' on how to calculate the aircraft's center of gravity (CG), a critical 'safety-of-flight' item. * 'Cargo Operations:' You will learn to use 'load planning' documents, inspect cargo (including 'hazardous materials'), and properly utilize 'straps, nets, and shoring' to secure freight. * 'Ground Equipment:' You will be trained to operate 'forklifts, K-loaders', and other ground equipment to safely load and unload the aircraft. * 'Alaska Operations:' You will be trained on the unique procedures for operating in 'remote Arctic' conditions. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'shift' is built around the cargo schedule. You might have a 'night shift' departure to a hub like Bethel. * 'Pre-Flight:' You'll report to the 'cargo warehouse' hours before the flight. You'll receive the 'load plan' from operations, inspect the cargo for 'hazmat' and damage, and supervise the 'build-up' of pallets. * 'Loading:' You will 'physically' operate a forklift or loader (or direct the ground crew) to load pallets and containers onto the aircraft. Inside the hold, you will be 'physically active', pushing, pulling, and using 'straps and locks' to secure every piece of freight according to the load plan. You are responsible for 'every piece' of cargo. * 'Weight & Balance:' You will complete the 'final weight and balance' paperwork, calculating the aircraft's takeoff weight and CG, and 'sign off' on it for the Captain. The flight 'cannot legally depart' without your signature. * 'In-Flight:' You will fly in the 'jump seat' as a required crew member. You will monitor the cargo hold for any shifts or issues during flight. * 'Offloading:' Upon landing in a remote village, you will 'manage the offload' process, often on a 'dark, icy ramp', supervising the local ground crew or 'unloading freight yourself' to get it to the community. Why Everts Air? This is a 'unique and challenging' career that takes you 'all over Alaska'. You are a 'critical link' delivering food, mail, medicine, and essential supplies to remote communities. This is a 'physically demanding' job with a 'high level of responsibility'. We offer 'competitive pay', a 'full benefits package', and 'flight benefits' (space-available) on our network. This is a 'long-term career' for a hardworking individual who loves aviation and the 'Alaskan lifestyle'.
