We are seeking an experienced and dedicated aviation professional to join our team as an Inflight Leader (Purser) based at our Washington D.C. (DCA) crew base. This is a 'leadership role', not an 'entry-level' position. The Inflight Leader is responsible for coordinating the cabin crew on our larger CRJ-900 aircraft, ensuring all safety, service, and regulatory procedures are met. This role requires prior flight attendant experience and a proven track record of leadership, mentorship, and operational excellence. Your New Career – The Role: As an Inflight Leader, you are the primary point of contact for the flight crew in the cabin and the liaison between the cabin and the flight deck. You lead the pre-flight briefings for the flight attendant crew, assign duty stations, and set the standard for 'service and safety' on every flight. You are responsible for handling all cabin operations, from managing passenger issues and coordinating service in the first-class cabin to leading the crew in the event of an emergency. This position requires 'impeccable leadership skills', a deep knowledge of FAA regulations, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Your schedule will be based on seniority and will include 'day shift', 'night shift', 'weekend shift', and holiday flying. The Training – Advancing Your Skills: Qualified candidates (typically experienced PSA Flight Attendants or those with equivalent 'lead' experience) will undergo a specialized 'Inflight Leader' training program. This paid training focuses on advanced leadership, conflict management, and emergency procedure coordination. You will be trained on how to manage a crew, handle complex passenger scenarios (medical, security), and complete all necessary leadership documentation for each flight. This training is in addition to your annual recurrent training required to maintain your FAA certification. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your day as an Inflight Leader starts before the rest of the crew. * 'Pre-Flight:' You will check in at the DCA crew room and immediately begin reviewing flight information, crew assignments, and passenger manifests. You will lead the 'crew briefing', ensuring all flight attendants are 'fit for duty', aware of the flight details, and clear on their positions and responsibilities. You will lead the crew to the aircraft, perform your own pre-flight safety checks, and then verify the checks of your junior flight attendant. * 'Boarding:' You will take the lead on managing the boarding process, often making the primary announcements, coordinating with the gate agent, and personally welcoming 'First Class' passengers. You are the primary problem-solver for any seating issues, baggage conflicts, or passenger concerns. * 'In-Flight:' You are responsible for initiating all service and safety protocols. You will oversee the service in the First Class cabin, ensuring it meets 'American Airlines' premium standards. You will also support your crew in the main cabin, back them up in difficult situations, and act as the primary 'first responder' for any medical or safety incidents, coordinating all actions until the situation is resolved. * 'Post-Flight:' You will manage the deplaning process and be the last to leave the aircraft after ensuring all cabin checks are complete. You are responsible for filing all flight reports, including service reports, incident reports, and any crew performance documentation.
