About Bering Air: Bering Air is a leader in 'Alaskan aviation', providing scheduled passenger, mail, and cargo services to over 30 remote villages from our bases in Nome, Kotzebue (OTZ), and Unalakleet. We operate a 'diverse fleet' of aircraft (CASA C-212, King Air, Cessna Caravan, etc.) designed to handle the unique challenges of the Arctic. We are seeking a 'flexible and hardworking' individual for a 'hybrid role' as a Ground & Cabin Agent based in Kotzebue, AK (OTZ). 'No experience' as a flight attendant is required, but you must be a 'team player' willing to perform a 'variety of duties' both on the ground and in the air. This is a dynamic 'entry-level' position perfect for someone who enjoys new challenges every day. Your New Career – The Role: This is a 'dual-role' position. On the ground, you will act as a 'Customer Service Agent'. In the air, you will act as a 'Cabin Assistant' (Flight Attendant) on aircraft that require one. This role requires 'excellent customer service skills', physical fitness, and the ability to switch tasks quickly. You must be ableto work a 'flexible schedule', including 'day shift', 'weekend shift', and 'on-call' periods, as all operations are heavily dependent on weather. You must be 'based in Kotzebue, AK'. 'Ground Agent' Duties: * Greet passengers at the Kotzebue terminal. * Perform passenger check-in, issue boarding passes, and check baggage. * Answer phones, book reservations, and answer questions about flight schedules. * Handle baggage, 'weighing' and 'tagging' it for flights. * Assist with 'loading and unloading' mail, cargo, and baggage onto aircraft. * Communicate with pilots and ground crew to ensure on-time departures. 'Cabin Assistant (Flight Attendant)' Duties: * On designated flights, you will fly with the aircraft. * Ensure passenger safety and comfort in the cabin. * Provide a 'personalized safety briefing' before takeoff. * Secure all cabin items, baggage, and cargo. * Monitor passengers during the flight. * Assist passengers with 'deplaning' in remote villages and help unload their items. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: We provide 'comprehensive on-the-job training' for all aspects of this hybrid role. 'No experience' is necessary. You will be trained on: * Our reservations and check-in system. * 'Ground operations' and ramp safety procedures. * Baggage and cargo handling, including 'weight and balance' principles. * Aircraft-specific 'Cabin Assistant' duties, including safety briefings and emergency procedures for our fleet. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'day shift' starts at the OTZ terminal. You might spend the first two hours working the 'ticket counter', checking in passengers for three different flights, answering calls, and helping load baggage. Then, you may be assigned as the 'Cabin Assistant' for a flight to Point Hope. You'll escort your passengers to the CASA, secure the cabin, provide the safety briefing, and fly the route. Upon returning to OTZ, you may help unload an incoming mail plane. This is a 'physically active', 'customer-facing' role where 'no two days are the same'. You are a 'critical part' of our small, dedicated Kotzebue team. Why Bering Air? This role offers 'incredible variety' and a chance to be a true 'jack-of-all-trades' in aviation. You are an essential service provider for the communities of the 'Northwest Arctic Borough'. You will work in a 'close-knit team' environment where everyone helps out. We offer competitive pay and 'flight benefits' on our network, allowing you to explore this unique region of Alaska. This is a 'stable, long-term' opportunity for a resident of Kotzebue.
