About Mesa Airlines: Mesa Airlines is a leading regional airline, operating as a key partner for United Express. We fly a large, modern fleet of Embraer E-175 and Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, connecting millions of passengers from hubs like Washington D.C. (IAD), Houston (IAH), and Phoenix (PHX) to destinations across North America. Our company is built on a foundation of safety, reliability, and teamwork. We are seeking energetic, positive, and resilient individuals to join our team as Entry-Level Flight Attendants, based at our Washington, D.C. (IAD) hub. This is an exciting 'entry-level' opportunity where 'no experience' in aviation is required. We provide a comprehensive, paid training program to ensure you have the skills and confidence to be an outstanding FAA-certified safety and service professional. Your New Career – The Role: As a Mesa Airlines Flight Attendant operating for United Express, you are a leader, a brand ambassador, and a safety-critical crew member. Your primary and most important mission is to ensure the safety and security of every passenger on board. You will be responsible for managing the aircraft cabin, enforcing all FAA regulations, and being prepared to lead in any emergency situation with confidence and composure. In addition to your safety duties, you will provide a high standard of customer service that reflects the quality of the United Express brand, including service in the First Class cabin. This is a fast-paced, 24/7/365 career that demands a high degree of flexibility. You must be available for 'day shift', 'night shift', 'weekend shift', and on-call (reserve) assignments. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your career begins with our intensive, multi-week, paid training program, located at our headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. This challenging, fast-paced program is designed to transform you from a 'no experience' candidate into a certified Flight Attendant. Our dedicated instructors will guide you through a comprehensive curriculum: * **Aircraft Systems & Safety Equipment:** You will gain hands-on experience with our E-175 and CRJ-900 aircraft. You will learn to operate all doors, emergency exits, and cabin safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, AEDs, oxygen). * **Emergency Procedures:** You will be rigorously trained in all emergency scenarios, including realistic, hands-on drills for land and water evacuations, in-flight fires, and depressurization, using our advanced cabin simulators. * **First Aid & Medical Response:** You will be certified in CPR, AED, and advanced first aid, preparing you to handle passenger medical events with confidence. * **Customer Service & Conflict Resolution:** You will learn the United Express service standards, including First Class service, how to manage passenger interactions, de-escalate conflict, and provide a welcoming and professional atmosphere. * **FAA Regulations:** You will study and be tested on the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that are the foundation of your safety-sensitive role. Successful completion of this training, including passing all written exams and practical drills, is a mandatory requirement to earn your wings. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is dynamic, team-oriented, and focused on people. It begins long before the first passenger boards: * **Pre-Flight:** You'll arrive at the IAD crew room for your 'day shift' or 'night shift' check-in. You'll join your crew (Captain, First Officer, and fellow Flight Attendant(s)) for a detailed briefing covering flight plans, weather, passenger loads (including First Class and special needs), and any safety or security considerations. You will then board the aircraft to conduct your pre-flight safety checks, inspecting all emergency equipment, verifying catering, and ensuring the cabin is clean and prepared. * **Boarding:** You'll greet passengers warmly, assist with carry-on baggage, and help them find their seats. This is a critical time to monitor the cabin, ensure all safety regulations are met (especially with carry-on items), and identify any potential issues before the cabin door is closed. * **In-Flight:** You will perform the safety demonstration and ensure the cabin is secure for takeoff. Once in the air, you will work with your crew partner(s) to deliver the United Express inflight service, including serving the First Class cabin. Your primary duty remains vigilance; you are constantly monitoring the cabin, answering call lights, and being prepared to act in any situation, from a minor service request to a major medical or security emergency. * **Post-Flight:** Upon landing, you'll manage a safe and orderly deplaning. You'll then conduct a final cabin sweep for lost items and security checks. Your day may consist of multiple flights ('legs') and end with a 'night shift' arrival, either back at your home base (IAD) or in an overnight city (layover), where you check into a company-provided hotel to rest for the next day's duty. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Flexibility: This is not a 9-to-5 job. Your schedule is built on seniority and requires 24/7 availability. As a new 'entry-level' Flight Attendant, you will start on 'reserve.' This means you are on-call, ready to be assigned a trip at a moment's notice. You must be able to report to your base airport (domicile) quickly. Your schedule will include 'day shift,' 'night shift,' 'weekend shift,' and holiday assignments. While this demands flexibility, it also offers it—you may work a 4-day trip and then have 3 days off. This lifestyle is perfect for those who thrive on variety and are not suited for a desk job. We provide competitive pay, a comprehensive benefits package, and excellent travel privileges on the United Airlines global network.
